Overview & Highlights

Nestled amidst the picturesque countryside of Eurobin, The Red Stag Restaurant offers a truly memorable family dining experience that beautifully showcases local Australian flavors with a distinctive wild game twist. Renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship with venison, emu, and goat dishes, this charming spot is a sanctuary for those eager to taste authentic bush-inspired cuisine in a setting that feels both intimate and extraordinary.

Step inside, and you’re greeted by a warm, rustic atmosphere that effortlessly blends the charm of rural Victoria with the comforts of a lively family restaurant. The open, airy dining area invites you to unwind while soaking in breathtaking views of vibrant green pastures and the resident emu, stag, and goats wandering close by. This connection to the land and its wildlife is part of what sets The Red Stag apart—dining here feels like being embraced by nature itself.

The culinary offerings are a celebration of regional ingredients and bold flavors. Customers rave about the standout venison dishes—whether it’s the delicately spiced venison burger melting with juicy richness or the venison pasta that perfectly balances earthiness and zest. The emu steak, tender and flavourful, is another highlight, often cited as “incredibly enjoyable” by avid diners. Those seeking unique, hearty options won’t want to miss the homely goat curry, described fondly as comforting and satisfying, or the venison pizza for a delicious twist on a classic favorite.

But dining at The Red Stag extends beyond the main courses. The house-made venison salami available to take home adds a savory keepsake that captures the restaurant’s artisanal quality, while the generous scones—lauded as some of the best in Australia—offer a perfect sweet contrast to the savory menu. Be sure to complement your meal with a bottle of wine, which guests continually praise for exceptional value without compromising on quality.

The service, while relaxed and sometimes self-serve, is attentive and caring. The friendly staff’s dedication to guests’ satisfaction shines through, creating a welcoming atmosphere that encourages families and groups to linger longer, enjoying the food, views, and company. Even during busy weekend afternoons when wait times can extend, diners appreciate the patient yet prompt attention and the chance to explore the grounds, meeting the resident wildlife for a playful interlude.

Families especially will find The Red Stag a delightful destination, as its combination of excellent food, scenic landscapes, and the chance for children to interact with friendly animals turns a simple meal into an experience rich with joy and discovery. Whether revisiting year after year or celebrating a special occasion, many guests consider it their “go-to” stop when visiting Bright and the surrounding High Country.

If you’re searching for a meal that nourishes not just the body but also the spirit, The Red Stag Restaurant is a rare gem where every bite tells a story of nature, tradition, and heartfelt hospitality. This is more than a family restaurant—it’s a tribute to the flavors and beauty of regional Australia that invites you to slow down, savor, and emerge refreshed.

it’s not table service but it was pretty quick. wine was such a great price for a bottle! fantastic views and great venison salami to take away

A beautiful countryside gem. If you are visiting Bright, this place deserves a visit. We would have missed it if not for a colleague's reccomendation who is also a local to the region. Picture perfect setting, wonderful service, nice selection of good, and great value. The scones are huge and perhaps the best I have had in Australia. We also had the goat curry and it was very homely. Only if my hometown was in Switzerland. But Victorian Alps do transport you to Switzerland. The farm has animals too and you can feed them for 5 or 10 dollars per bucket. Another must try activity for kids or adults. The drive from main road till the restaurant in the Eurobin valley is beautiful too. I can't recommend this place enough.

Had a lovely time at the Red Stag. Came for lunch on the Sunday of the long weekend. The place was extremely busy which was expected. There was about a 45 minute wait on food which we didn’t mind considering how busy it was. When the food came out it was very delicious and we were very happy with it all. After our meal we had a walk around the grounds to see the animals which was a good experience.

Our GO TO for every Bright trip. Food always good& consistency remained even after few years since our last visits. Breathtaking view, prompt& care customer service. Will always coming back.

Incredibly enjoyable meal the emu steak was incredible, the venison pasta was even better and the overall atmosphere was just so amazing. I will definitely recommend and come back myself very soon! And tbh, for the overall package the prices were pretty fair as well

The venison burger is nice. The emu meat is okay. The cheese garlic bread and vegan curry are goo too. Nice view. Nice atmosphere. The emu, stags and goats there are cute.

The food is exceptional! Amazing place and has amazing service! The location is outstanding! Emu steak, venison pizza and biscuit latte were mouth-watering! Highly recommend! We will be back soon!

One of the great spot to go for family while not many of these on the way to snow.(Apart from town) A little bit travel off the main road, you got wild animal to feed and brilliant views while you enjoy the food. Service can be improved a little bit with more training on young employee on details but generally not much to complain. Suggesting a ?km reminder on the sign. Not lots of parking especially when you towing. But its not always that busy.
